About David Starr

Born in Adelaide, Sth Australia, David Starr has 32 years of experience as a professional film and digital photographer. He first picked up a camera for a series of portraits of a new immigrant for his HSC major work. He is an AIPP award-winning portrait/wedding photographer (750 weddings) yet David’s photographic diversity expands elsewhere. He has worked as a photojournalist. David has been engaged commercially with many educational institutions, companies and small businesses. Model portfolio and family portraiture are second nature for him. After three decades, David still loves this people-focused work.

David’s understanding of natural light, innate sense of the artistic and his ability to communicate and connect with clients are his strengths.

As an artist, David has held 13 solo exhibitions since 2004 - in Sydney, NSW Southern Highlands and Croatia.

His other passions include operatic theatre, caring for the aged, film, sport and the music of Verdi, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Eno and David Bowie. He swims most days and is inspired by nature, stillness and his garden.
